A sunlit joy on the heights of Capri

Perfumer Alexandra Carlin reveals the sensuality of orange blossom. At the top, the tangy freshness of neroli, lemon and petitgrain. At the heart, a honeyed orange-blossom absolute echoes Bulgarian rose. The base unfolds a comforting warmth of balsams and resins — patchouli, labdanum, vanilla and vetiver — to render the salty minerality of the Faraglioni.

With a moderate sillage, Villa Néroli can be worn day or night, in any season. It will appeal to lovers of sunlit neroli and woody, resinous bases. A few sprays are enough to summon summer.

I imagined a garden of bitter-orange trees in Capri, a garden of abundance overlooking the Faraglioni, those age-old rocks eroded by wind, rain and sea. When the sun has barely set, this garden fills with an air of honeyed suavity. What interested me was to reveal all the assumed sensuality of orange blossom. The tangy freshness and the citrus impression at the top come essentially from neroli essence combined with Nerolione, a very powerful molecule with a clean smell. Neroli is then very quickly relayed by orange blossom absolute. Its honeyed, straw-like facets echo the Bulgarian rose absolute at the heart. Then comes a comforting impression of balms and resins, thanks to Madagascar vanilla absolute and cistus labdanum, to which a trio of ambroxan, moss and cashmeran is added to render the salty minerality of the Faraglioni. - Alexandra Carlin
