Jeroboam Paris – Perfume Extracts with Enigmatic Musks for Urban Nomads
Founded in 2015 by François Hénin — creator of the Jovoy boutique — and independent perfumer Vanina Muracciole, Jeroboam was born from an olfactory game around a cocktail of enigmatic musks. Radical philosophy: only perfume extracts (maximum concentration) in 30 ml flacons — the ideal format for the urban nomad. Names in Esperanto, the universal language, because perfume is "a Lingvo Internacia" — an international language of seduction. 14 extracts available at Soleil d'Or.
Jeroboam: when François Hénin (Jovoy) breaks perfumery's codes with Esperanto
In the beginning was Origino: the "musk ball" that changed everything
François Hénin is the founder of the famous Jovoy boutique in Paris — one of the world's leading niche perfumery destinations. In 2015, he launched Jeroboam from a game with independent perfumer Vanina Muracciole: she created a "musk ball" — a cocktail of enigmatic musks — to explore his anosmia to musks. This concentrate became Origino (Origin in Esperanto) — the first Jeroboam extract. His conviction: "Perfume is a weapon for those who know how to use it." That is why Jeroboam offers only perfume extracts at maximum concentration. The traditional olfactory pyramid is deliberately "broken": the base is exaggerated, the heart worked, and the top notes are a "hot-air balloon" — without a launch, the perfume never takes off. All perfumes are named in Esperanto, the universal language created in 1887 by Ludwik Zamenhof — because musk and seduction are universal languages.
14 extracts, each a portrait: from Gozo to Your Oudhness
Gozo — tuberose, saffron, geranium, patchouli, musks — is the house best-seller: an opulent oriental floral inspired by the Maltese island. Oriento is a powerful rose oud, quintessentially oriental. Vespero (Twilight) is the most woody and "dandy masculine". Insulo (Island) is a tribute to Madagascan vanilla — gourmand oriental. Hauto (Skin) is the most powdery and floral. Floro is a fresh apple and pineapple fruity. Unue (First) is a delicate floral created as a tribute to Selfridges London. Ambra is the house's signature amber. Boha is an immaculate white gardenia. Your Oudhness (100 ml) is the prestigious oud of the collection — intense aromatic.
Frequently asked questions about JEROBOAM perfumes
Why are Jeroboam perfumes named in Esperanto?
Esperanto is an artificial language created in 1887 by Ludwik Zamenhof with the ambition of creating a universal language. For François Hénin, this choice is a perfect metaphor: musk is the molecule present in almost every perfume in the world, and Jeroboam places musk at the heart of every creation. Musk is therefore also a "Lingvo Internacia" — an international language. Origino = Origin · Gozo = Joy · Vespero = Twilight · Insulo = Island · Hauto = Skin · Unue = First.
Why does Jeroboam only offer perfume extracts?
"The extract has something noble about it, designed for devastating trails." — François Hénin. Jeroboam refuses eaux de parfum or eaux de toilette: the concentration is maximum, trails intense and lasting power exceptional. Every 30 ml flacon is a concentrated olfactory bomb. The pyramid is also deliberately "broken": the base (and thus the musks) is exaggerated for maximum persistence. "A hot-air balloon needs warm air to take off — the top notes are that warm air", explains Vanina Muracciole.
What is the best Jeroboam perfume to start with?
Gozo is the undisputed house best-seller — an opulent oriental floral (tuberose, saffron, geranium, musks) of exceptional power and trail, inspired by the island of Gozo (Malta). Origino is the most musky and most universal entry. Vespero is ideal for lovers of masculine woody. Insulo is perfect for vanilla oriental fans. Our discovery box lets you test your selection.
What does the name Jeroboam mean?
The name Jeroboam is a wink to the jeroboam wine bottle format (3 litres), created in 1725. François Hénin wanted to play on the contrast: the largest format (jeroboam = 3L) meets the smallest flacon (30 ml). It is the founding oxymoron of the brand: the absolute concentrate in the most compact object. A 30 ml perfume extract is the quintessence of perfumery in your pocket.
Are Jeroboam perfumes unisex?
Yes — all Jeroboam perfumes are unisex. Gozo (opulent oriental floral), Hauto (powdery floral), Boha (white gardenia) tend towards the feminine. Vespero (woody leather), Your Oudhness (aromatic oud) tend towards the masculine. But Vanina Muracciole's musky base makes every creation universal on the skin.
