A salty, sunlit skin accord

Composed by perfumer Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, antinoüs opens on clary sage and common sage, herbaceous and luminous. At the heart, white pepper and cumin warm a salty-skin accord, evoking a body warmed by the sun and the sea air. In the base, wheat absolute, vetiver and sandalwood lay down a deep, sensual sillage.

It took me a while to find how to structure this out-of-the-ordinary perfume. I had my accord combining three sage extracts with various spices evoking the skin, but they needed to be assembled in a logical, harmonious way. I tried many structures, and it was within a woody, musky foundation that the whole formula made sense. While spices naturally go well with wood, the vetiver – sandalwood – warm musks ensemble revealed the skin and animalic facets of the sage. I also had great fun working with wheat absolute, a material I rarely use.
