Bohoboco: two materials, one memory

A house born of a childhood dream, from Żywiec to Warsaw

In 1980s Żywiec, in southern Poland, a boy wants to create his own perfume; nobody takes him seriously. Michał Gilbert Lach worked as a hairdresser, make-up artist and stylist before studying clothing design. In his late twenties he left Żywiec for Warsaw, where he founded the Bohoboco clothing brand, quickly noticed internationally. Fashion was not enough: his first composition, No. 1, premiered in 2012, and the Bohoboco • Perfume collection followed in 2016 — with No. 1 returning under the name Vanilla • Black Pepper. The signature scents of the house

The Bohoboco pantheon brings together Wet Cherry • Liquor, boozy cherry over tonka bean and vanilla; Polish • Potatoes, an amber tribute to Polish soil, between hay, honey and oud; Sea Salt • Caramel, sea air softened with salted caramel; Dark Vinyl • Musk, a chiaroscuro of rose, incense and leather; and Mango Yuzu • Gasoline, a collision of solar fruit and raw petrol.

The whole writing of the house is in its names: two materials separated by a dot, which nothing destined to meet. Potato and oud, sea salt and brown sugar, vinyl and musk. Creative director Michał Gilbert Lach claims that subjectivity — each bottle takes a precise memory and makes it something you can smell. All creations are unisex eaux de parfum, in a 50 ml bottle.
