Perfumer Alexandra Carlin composes a trilogy around the tonka bean. The top marries almond with orange blossom. The heart adorns the balsamic tonka with rose petals, for a velvet effect, and a honeyed tobacco absolute. At the base, milky amyris wood, vanilla and an amberwood unfurl an addictive, velvety and sensual sillage, like a gourmand breath from the Atlas mountains.

I have always loved the smell of tonka bean. Tonka bean absolute from Brazil is, for me, an emblematic material of perfumery; it enriches the perfumer's palette with its almondy, warm and sensual notes. I am particularly fond of its balmy character and its hay-milk side that makes it so addictive.
