Fascent: the clean and vegan house designed for layering
Fascent, a house founded by Fanny Fortin Descamps and Edwina Réthoré
Fascent is a young French house founded in 2023 by Fanny Fortin Descamps, formerly with the fragrance houses Firmenich and CPL Aromas, and Edwina Réthoré, who came from cosmetics (nuud, Merci Handy). The name contracts “facettes” — facets — and “scent”: genderless eaux de parfum, made in France, designed to be worn alone or layered to match the mood. The approach is detailed on the official Fascent website.
The signature scents of the Fascent house
The Fascent wardrobe runs from assertive gourmands to bright freshness: Crème Brûlante (vanilla, almond balm, benzoin), the brand's best seller at Soleil d'Or, Sel à Vie (mandarin, white flowers, marine notes), I Fig You (fig leaf, tea, vetiver), Corn Star (popcorn, pear, marshmallow) and L'Eau d'Or Dort (bergamot, orange blossom, musk).
The olfactory signature of Fascent perfumes
Composed notably by perfumers Marine Mercé and Elise Pierre, Fascent creations stand for legible compositions and a strict clean charter: vegan formulas, no preservatives, no proven endocrine disruptors, no colourants or UV filters. The families covered range from vanilla and amber to green and musky — and every 30 ml bottle, in recycled glass, refills with glass ampoules.
Who is Fascent for, and when should you wear it?
All Fascent perfumes are unisex, by conviction. The most enveloping ones such as Crème Brûlante, Milky No Way (sandalwood, hazelnut) or Red Flag (iris, cardamom) suit autumn and winter; Sel à Vie, I Fig You and L'Eau d'Or Dort brighten spring and summer; Radical Softness (pink pepper, ambroxan) works all year round. If this contemporary style speaks to you, also explore Chambre52, Hellenist and Solférino Paris, three other contemporary houses in our selection.
How to choose your Fascent perfume?
Hesitating between the vanilla of Crème Brûlante and the fig of I Fig You is only natural: the simplest way is to try. Every Fascent creation is available as a 2 ml sample on its product page, so you can build a selection to test at home and experiment with layering — the house suggests, for example, pairing Crème Brûlante with Milky No Way or Sel à Vie. For a guided trial, our boutique at 22 rue de la Clef in Lille welcomes you Tuesday to Saturday.
Fascent at Soleil d'Or, a Lille perfumery since 1953
Founded in 1953 by Jeanne Muyllaert on Lille's Grand'Place, Soleil d'Or is an independent perfumery passed down from generation to generation. Hubert Maes (third generation) made it a reference for niche perfumery; today, his daughters Victorine and Apolline Maes (fourth generation) uphold that standard at 22 rue de la Clef in Lille (59800).
