The story

Stéphane Humbert Lucas: the synaesthete perfumer and painter

A nose shaped by the Middle East

Stéphane Humbert Lucas is a rare French perfumer: a synaesthete (he naturally associates colours, sounds and scents) and a painter of renown, he spent much of his career in the Middle East, where he formulated for royal households and confidential Arabian houses. He founded his eponymous house in Paris to free his personal style, which has since become one of the most powerful signatures in French oriental niche perfumery.

The iconic trails of the French house

The Stéphane Humbert Lucas pantheon brings together Venom Incarnat, Sea my Love, Pink Boa, Mortal Skin, Taklamakan and Sand Dance, signatures that have established the house among niche enthusiasts.

Three collections to explore the universe

The house organises its range into three complementary lines. The 777 collection is its iconic heart: fifteen powerful oriental fragrances distilling the perfumer's Middle Eastern experience. The Serpent collection extends his pictorial journeys. Finally, the Exclusive collection gathers the most confidential creations, for connoisseurs of artistic perfumery.

Who should wear Stéphane Humbert Lucas, and when?

Stéphane Humbert Lucas speaks to lovers of powerful, pictorial compositions who want a trail that leaves its mark without compromise. The house is unisex. Its oriental, leathery and amber creations hold their own all year round, especially in autumn and winter. If you enjoy Stéphane Humbert Lucas, you will also love exploring Nejma, Perris Monte Carlo and Houbigant, three other strong oriental signatures at Soleil d'Or.

Frequently asked questions about Stéphane Humbert Lucas perfumes

Who is Stéphane Humbert Lucas?

Stéphane Humbert Lucas is a synaesthetic Parisian perfumer, trained as a painter. After studying painting in the south of France with a Flemish master (the *tempera* technique, the study of pigments), he realised that every colour has a scent — it is this synaesthesia that guides his creations. Before founding his eponymous house in 2012, he was the nose behind the brands Nez à Nez and SoOud. Today he signs his creations like a painter before his canvas.

What does the number 777 represent?

The 777 Collection, launched in 2012, embodies Stéphane Humbert Lucas's olfactory and spiritual vision. Inspired by his travels in the Middle East — which he considers the cradle of the universe — it interprets the Orient not as exoticism but as a source of beauty, mystery and wisdom. The number 7, a symbol of perfection and fulfilment, sets the rhythm of the creator's work: 777 expresses a balance between luck, protection and peace. Precious materials: oud, incense, sacred resins, roses, spices.

What are Stéphane Humbert Lucas's iconic perfumes?

Several creations top the list. Soleil de Jeddah (and its variations L'Original, Mango Kiss, Afterglow) — a radiant floral oriental blending Italian lemon, vanilla, osmanthus and Florentine iris. Oumma — an ancestral formula combining oud and three roses (Morocco, Grasse, Bulgaria). Black Gemstone. Rose de Petra, a tribute to the Jordanian city. Panthea and Panthea Iris. The Serpent Collection, more recent, explores transformation and healing.
