A French house inspired by a tale from the Thousand and One Nights

Nejma was founded in 2007 by Marie-Lise Bischoff, a French perfumer based in Grasse, around a founding oriental tale: the story of Nejma and her seven daughters, a metaphor for an olfactory journey through spices, oud, flowers and precious woods. Each creation in the main collection bears the name of one of Nejma's daughters, in a narrative world unique in French haute parfumerie.

Four collections to explore Nejma

The house organises its catalogue into four complementary lines. The Heritage Collection is the narrative heart (seven fragrances, seven daughters). Who is behind Nejma?

Nejma is a niche perfume house founded by Marie-Lise Bischoff, who grew up a few kilometres from Grasse — the world capital of perfume. It was a trip to the Far East that inspired the creation of the brand, while reading an oriental tale whose heroine, Nejma (meaning *"lucky star"* in Arabic), is captured to be sold, then married by the man who buys her. Marie-Lise Bischoff works with master perfumer Jean Niel to bring her creations to life.

What makes Nejma special?

The Heritage Collection is made up of 7 fragrances — like the 7 daughters born of the legendary union of Nejma and the Vizier. Each creation interprets the story in its own way. The common thread of the whole collection: oud as the base, enhanced in each variation by other precious materials (saffron, rose, incense, amber, vetiver, vanilla). An oriental perfumery with French roots that marries the tradition of Grasse with the Arab-Muslim imagination.

The Heritage Collection brings together the seven original creations (Nejma 1 to 7), each embodying one of Nejma's daughters with its own character — from sensual to refined, from floral to spicy woody.
