Who is behind Le Rouge Français?

Élodie Carpentier, a biotechnology engineer, founded Le Rouge Français in 2018 after 18 months of research and development. While pregnant, she questioned the composition of her cosmetics and decided to create her own brand around dye plants — plants once used to dye fabrics. With her husband Salem Ghezaili, she co-developed a patented process that won an award at Cosmebio's Cosm'Éthique competition in 2019. Made in France.

What sets Le Rouge Français apart?

100% plant-based and organic. No synthetic pigments, no titanium dioxide, no mica (often mined in conditions linked to child labour). The pigments come exclusively from dye plants: madder, hibiscus, annatto, indigo, Damask rose, sorghum. The brand is certified Cosmos Organic by Ecocert and Cosmebio (95% of natural origin), vegan and cruelty-free, and offers refillable cases made of plant-based composite and aluminium.
