Atelier Materi takes its name from the Breton word "Materi", meaning matter — a deliberate echo of its founder's Breton roots. Véronique Le Bihan, passionate about perfume, architecture and design, approaches all three from the same angle: matter and its transformations. Founded in late 2019, the house claims an honest, sincere luxury that takes the time to make things, working with artists and craftspeople from the harvest of raw materials through to the bottles and gift boxes.

The signature fragrances of Atelier Materi

The eaux de parfum (100 ml and 10 ml travel size) bring together Vanille Carbone, Cèdre Figalia, Santal Blond, Cacao Porcelana, Narcisse Taiji, Tonka Kumaru, Cuir Nilam, Poivre Pomelo, Iris Ebène, Bois d'Ambrette and Rose Ardoise. The perfume extracts (50 ml, golden cap) complete the collection: Néroli Hasbaya, Ambre Papier, Burgundy Oud and Black Oregano.

A minimal, contemporary olfactory signature

The house signature comes down to one rule: one material, one perfume. Each creation explores a precise natural material, traditional or unusual, placed at the centre of contrasting accords — the material is not one ingredient among others, it is the subject. Four perfumers shape it: Céline Perdriel, who signs the perfume extracts among others, Marie Hugentobler, Natalie Gracia-Cetto and Lucas Sieuzac. The signature materials can be followed from one house to the next at Soleil d'Or: vanilla, sandalwood, cocoa, tonka bean, narcissus, iris, leather or oud.

Who is Atelier Materi for, and when to wear it?

Every fragrance is unisex and made in France: built around a material rather than a gender, they speak to those who prefer a pared-back signature to a demonstrative trail. The woody, amber and leathery ones wear well in autumn and winter, while the citrus, floral and aromatic ones suit the brighter seasons.
