La proie pour l'ombre is a fable on the impossibility of choosing: the caress of vanilla against the crack of leather. A dark, gourmand leather from the Gratte-Ciel collection, exclusive to Serge Lutens' Palais Royal boutiques.

Leather opens carnal and smoky; the heart, bittersweet, blends licorice and immortelle, with facets of coffee and cacao; vanilla signs the base, tender and enveloping. Two sides of the same coin, irrevocably entwined.

Composed by Christopher Sheldrake under the direction of Serge Lutens, La proie pour l'ombre is worn after dark, from autumn to winter, for a sensual, tenacious warmth.

Expert tip

A Serge Lutens perfume favors, as far as possible, the use of raw materials of natural origin of the highest quality. They alone guarantee a true evolution of the perfume on the skin. Spray the perfume preferably directly on the latter and wait a few minutes, the time for the composition to develop its fullness and reveal itself in its most disturbing truth. SERGE LUTENS

Serge Lutens, born in 1942 in Lille, is a French artist of many talents: photographer, filmmaker, fashion architect and perfume creator. After early work in hairstyling and make-up, he collaborated with prestigious magazines such as Vogue. In 1980 he began a defining collaboration with Shiseido, shaping the brand's visual identity and launching iconic fragrances such as "Féminité du bois" in 1992. In 2000 he founded his own perfume house, Serge Lutens, offering unique, avant-garde olfactory creations. Deeply influenced by Marrakech, where he acquired a residence in 1974, he draws major inspiration from the city for his fragrances. Today, the Serge Lutens house is recognised for its artistic approach and its commitment to originality and quality.
