Athanor

Athanor, an extrait de parfum by Mendittorosa (100 ml), takes its name from the alchemists' furnace — the one whose slow heat brings about transmutation.

A smoky wood, mineral and metallic

The opening is unexpected: a sulphur accord, metallic and sharp, quickly giving way to the ruby depth of blackcurrant and the leathery warmth of saffron. The heart descends into shadow with iris, cypriol and a smoky incense accord. The base seals the whole — cashmeran, guaiac wood, Java vetiver and black amber. Created by Luca Maffei, after two years of work with the house.

Founded in Naples by Stefania Squeglia, the house reserves its most concentrated formulations for the Talismans Extreme series — 35% here — along with caps sculpted by goldsmiths.
