Ithaka

Ithaka, an eau de parfum by Mendittorosa (100 ml), opens the Versi trilogy: the one in which the house grows a perfume from a poem.

A resinous amber, incensed and sunlit

The opening is brief and bright — a frank bergamot, quickly gone. The heart is the real subject: an aqueous magnolia, dense and creamy, infused with incense. The base unfolds an entire trading port — patchouli, labdanum, incense resinoid, Virginian cedar, cypriol and benzoin — and leaves a faintly saline imprint on the skin. Created by Camille Chemardin.

Founded in Naples by Stefania Squeglia, the house conceived Ithaka in response to Constantine Cavafy's poem, published in 1911. The bottle carries a hand-shaped wooden cap and a tablet engraved with a small boat at sea.
