What is a fougère perfume?

The fougère family was invented in 1882 by Houbigant with Fougère Royale, first synthetic perfume to use coumarin (molecule of fresh hay extracted from tonka bean). The fougère founding accord brings together lavender, oakmoss, coumarin and bergamot, to which can be added geranium and aromatic notes. A founding family of masculine perfumery (Pour Un Homme by Caron, Yatagan, Aventus by Creed), that crosses three centuries to remain a contemporary niche heritage reference.
