Spicy Perfumes – Cardamom, black pepper, saffron and clove
Spicy perfumes summon black pepper, cardamom, saffron, clove, chilli and nutmeg. A warm and magnetic family, often associated with oriental, woody or floral accords, central in contemporary niche perfumery.
Spicy Perfumes: cardamom, black pepper, saffron and clove
What is a spicy perfume?
The spicy family appeared in haute parfumerie in the late 19th century with creations like Opium (YSL, 1977) and Coco (Chanel, 1984) that imposed the spice as olfactive subject. It brings together perfumes whose dominant accord is built around black pepper, pink pepper, Sichuan pepper, cardamom, saffron, clove, chilli, nutmeg, ginger. A family completely renewed by contemporary niche (La Closerie des Parfums, Memo African Leather), often in dialogue with woody, oriental or floral accords.
Spicy perfumes shine particularly in autumn and winter, when the cool air enhances the warmth of spices. Mostly unisex, the family suits assertive and characterful trails. Ideal for evening wear, special occasions and outdoor periods.

Questions fréquentes sur les parfums Spicy Perfumes
What is a spicy perfume?
+
A spicy perfume uses spices as dominant notes: black pepper, cardamom, saffron, ginger, cinnamon. The niche spicy perfumes at Soleil d'Or — Xerjoff, La Closerie des Parfums, Bohoboco — exploit these materials with precision that mainstream perfumery cannot match.
What is the difference between a spicy and an oriental perfume?
+
Spices are present in both families, but oriental perfumes systematically pair them with heavy resins (oud, benzoin). Spicy perfumes can be lighter — a black pepper + cedar accord is spicy without being oriental.
Can a spicy perfume be worn in summer?
+
Heavy spicies are cold-season fragrances. But lighter spicies built on fresh pepper or airy cardamom work well in spring. Our personal olfactory test will guide you according to the season.
Are spicy perfumes suitable for women?
+
Absolutely — niche spicies are genuinely unisex. Bohoboco and Xerjoff create spicies that suit feminine skin beautifully. In niche perfumery, gender codes have no place.
How do you wear a spicy perfume without it being overwhelming?
+
One to two sprays are sufficient. Apply to the nape rather than the wrist for a subtler sillage. Our spicy discovery box lets you test the ideal dosage on your skin before buying.
