Casamorati: Italian Art Nouveau perfumery resurrected by Xerjoff

From 1888 in Bologna to the Xerjoff resurrection

Casamorati was founded in 1888 in Bologna by Claudio Casamorati, whose essences became the favourites of Queen Margherita of Italy, first queen of unified Italy. The maison crossed the early 20th century before disappearing — to be resurrected in 2010 by Xerjoff, the great Turin maison, which acquired the rights and perpetuates today the Art Nouveau aesthetic of the founder. A unique editorial bridge between Italian heritage perfumery (1888-1920s) and contemporary Italian niche.

The maison's signature scents

The Casamorati pantheon brings together Italica, Lira, Bouquet Ideale, La Tosca and Dolce Amalfi — a roster of heritage Italian compositions, recreated according to the original archives in contemporary versions.

Art Nouveau as visual signature

Casamorati cultivates a unique aesthetic in contemporary niche: the Italian Art Nouveau translated into 21st-century niche perfumery. The flacons are sculpted in the spirit of late-19th-century Italian crystals, with engravings that evoke iconic works (La Tosca, Lira and Italian opera). A line that pays tribute to the heritage tradition of Italian luxury, served by the contemporary olfactive expertise of the resurrecting maison Xerjoff.

Who is Casamorati for, and when to wear it?

Casamorati speaks to lovers of heritage Italian perfumery, who appreciate compositions rooted in the great national tradition. The house is unisex. Creations sit in the floral, oriental, hesperidic and powdery families. If you enjoy Casamorati, you will also want to explore Nobile 1942 (other Italian heritage maison), Profumum Roma and Xerjoff — three other Italian heritage signatures at Soleil d'Or.

Frequently asked questions about Casamorati perfumes

What is the history of Casamorati 1888?

Casamorati is one of Italy's oldest perfume houses. Founded in Bologna in 1888 by Claudio Casamorati, it quickly became famous for its refined essences, appreciated all the way to Queen Margherita of Savoy. After closing in the mid-20th century, the house was revived by Sergio Momo, founder of Xerjoff, who preserved the house's Art Nouveau DNA while infusing it with contemporary luxury.

Casamorati and Xerjoff: what is the relationship between the two brands?

Casamorati 1888 is a collection created and distributed by Xerjoff. Sergio Momo, founder of Xerjoff, acquired the rights to the historic Bolognese house and relaunched it with the same exacting standards for raw materials and craftsmanship. Both houses share the same luxury standards but have distinct olfactory identities: Xerjoff is more contemporary, Casamorati 1888 is firmly rooted in Art Nouveau heritage.

Which olfactory families does Casamorati 1888 cover?

Casamorati 1888 covers a very broad spectrum. Hesperidic and aromatic perfumes (Mefisto, Regio) are the most classically Italian signatures. Florals (Bouquet Ideale) and oriental and gourmand (Italica, Lira) complete the collection. Fougères and woodys add depth and elegance to the whole.

Casamorati 1888: perfumes for men or women?

The Casamorati 1888 collection offers clearly feminine creations (Bouquet Ideale, Minha Liberdade), masculine compositions (Mefisto, Regio) and unisex fragrances. The house's Art Nouveau heritage allows it to embrace all nuances of femininity and masculinity with timeless elegance.

Can I try Casamorati 1888 before buying at Soleil d'Or?

Yes — our discovery box offers up to 5 Casamorati 1888 samples selected according to your olfactory profile. It is the smartest way to explore such a rich and varied collection before investing in a bottle. The quality of Sergio Momo's raw materials makes it worth taking the time to test.
