What is an aromatic perfume?
The aromatic family is a heritage family, inherited from masculine perfumery of the late 19th and 20th centuries (Caron Pour Un Homme, 1934). It brings together perfumes whose dominant accord is built around herbaceous and Mediterranean plants — clary sage, rosemary, lavender, basil, mint, thyme, artemisia. A tonic and virile family, often associated with hesperidic accords (aromatic-hesperidic), fougère (aromatic-fougère) or woody (aromatic-woody).
Aromatic perfumes shine year-round, with a brilliance in spring and summer. Originally masculine, the family today offers superb unisex creations. Ideal for daytime wear, the office and outdoor active moments. A tonic, dynamic and assertive freshness.

Questions fréquentes sur les parfums Aromatic Perfumes
What is an aromatic perfume?
+
An aromatic perfume is built around fresh herbs and plants: lavender, rosemary, sage, basil, thyme. The niche aromatic perfumes at Soleil d'Or — Creed, Houbigant, Caron — offer botanical interpretations of remarkable precision.
What is the difference between an aromatic and a fougère perfume?
+
A fougère is a sub-family of aromatic, defined by a precise accord: lavender + coumarin + oakmoss. All fougère perfumes are aromatic, but not all aromatics are fougères. An aromatic can use only rosemary without any of these specific notes.
Are aromatic perfumes suitable for women?
+
Historically masculine, aromatics are seeing a strong resurgence of female interest in niche perfumery. Caron and Houbigant offer remarkably sophisticated unisex aromatics where gender codes give way to quality.
What is the ideal season for aromatic perfumes?
+
Spring and summer are the natural seasons for aromatics. For winter occasions, our woody perfumes or amber perfumes offer the depth and warmth the cold season requires.
Can you wear an aromatic perfume to work?
+
Yes — aromatics are among the easiest fragrances to wear professionally. Discreet sillage, universally appreciated fresh and clean character. Our personalised discovery box will guide you to the aromatic best suited to your daily life.
