Lalique: the art of crystal turned perfume, since 1888
René Lalique and the founding of French crystallography
Lalique was founded in 1888 by master glassmaker René Lalique, figure of French Art Nouveau and Art Deco. From the early 20th century, the maison inspired the perfumery universe by signing the historic flacons of Coty (Le Cyclamen, 1909) and other great houses (D'Orsay, Worth). The contemporary maison perpetuates this heritage by signing its own perfumes since the 1990s, in flacons sculpted in homage to the founder's iconic creations — feminine figures, ornamental motifs, encrusted reliefs.
The maison's signature scents
The Lalique pantheon brings together Samouraï, Les Mascottes, Encre Noire, Lion and Le Parfum — a roster of contemporary signatures whose flacons are themselves collectors' pieces.
The flacon as collector's piece
Lalique cultivates an approach unique within haute parfumerie: the perfume flacon as autonomous artistic object. Where most maisons treat the flacon as a container at the service of the composition, Lalique inverts the logic — the flacon is conceived as a sculpted crystal piece that prolongs the maison's heritage tradition, and the perfume is composed in dialogue with the visual identity. A two-track creation that explains why Lalique flacons are systematically prized by collectors.
Who is Lalique for, and when to wear it?
Lalique speaks to lovers of perfumery anchored in French heritage, who appreciate creations served by an exceptional flacon. The house is unisex. Creations sit in the oriental, woody, ambery, floral and aromatic families, and shine year-round. If you enjoy Lalique, you will also want to explore Caron (other heritage French house), Houbigant and Goutal Paris — three other French heritage signatures at Soleil d'Or.
