Bass Solo de The Vagabond Prince : its inspiration
Bass Solo by The Vagabond Prince was born quickly as an enthusiastic reaction of an artist, Bertrand Duchaufour, to the beauty of wenge, an African, tropical tree; the warm continent has always had a special place in Bertrand's heart. Wenge (Millettia laurentii) is native to central Africa and prized for its hard and heavy timber, making it suitable for the production of musical instruments that require dense woods for better sound. Wenge is also favored for its beautiful, dark brown color patterned with black striations.
Wenge does not necessarily have an aroma, but being beneficial for music and beautiful to the eye, it inspired the perfumer to extract deep and vibrant accords hidden within.
Bass Solo y The Vagabond Prince : Its fragrance
Bass Solo offers an aroma pitched in the lowest register; its dense melody is composed of a selection of woody notes including soft sandalwood, salty driftwood and a blend of cedars with their comfortable, dry nuances. Smoky tar and velvety peach flow through the veins of the wood.
A light, floral cardamom, beautiful in itself, here combines with the warmth of wood and becomes soft as a caress. Lavender - the highest-pitched note - represents the cold metal of the strings and hardware and brings together the spices and the woods. Bertrand is very selective in his choice of lavender, and I am pleased to announce that the lavender in Bass Solo does not simply perform as an aroma - it sings!
Bass Solo is an airy composition that allows you to see it from the inside. Its structure is spacious while the individual notes blend harmoniously into chords. Nothing is secondary, all of the facets are important and weighed with careful measure: once sounded, the composition resonates long and tenderly, dispersing in a resinous, juicy depth and reverberating back again in fragrant, crested waves.
