Description

An island, a date as many clues taking us back to the discovery of patchouli in Europe. Originally, a natural moth repellent slipped into the heart of silk rolls from Indonesia, in the heart of the 19th century, its sumptuous perfume was revealed from 1834 to the elegant ladies of Paris.

"Why this date? Quite simply because by unrolling the silk that contained it, Paris in this year discovered patchouli. We imagine its perfume in a sable stole waiting for a car." Serge Lutens.

Designed by Serge Lutens as a signature fragrance collection, the Gratte-ciel design takes us back to the New York skyline aesthetic of the 1920s and 1930s. Perfection of a lacquered black, beveled edges as sharp as the tip of a Chrysler Building, this iconic bottle draws its influences from Art Deco to embody a new modernity, the avant-garde of a style in the firmament.

Strong alcohols with Proustian accents, Serge Lutens perfumery has been bottling legendary olfactory creations for over 20 years. From "Féminité du bois", to "Ambre sultan", "La fille de Berlin"..., each perfume embodies an exceptional story and a unique signature.
