Since 1953: Le Soleil d'Or is a historic jewel that offers you exclusive and rare perfume brands composed of noble raw materials that can satisfy each of us. Also, this exceptional place offers an exquisite selection of care and cosmetic products, mainly highlighting anti-aging solutions and body well-being rituals. Today, it is the fourth generation, embodied by Victorine and Apolline Maes, who guide the destiny of this family business, continuing to shine the spotlight on olfactory art and combining tradition and modernity.

THE FIRST STEPS OF A PERFUMED EPIC

The story begins in 1953 with the acquisition of the “Parfumerie Hurez”, renamed “Soleil d'Or” on the Grand Place in Lille by Jeanne MUYLLAERT, great-grandmother of Victorine and Apolline. The decisive influence continues with Jeanne's children, Suzanne Maes Muyllaert, grandmother of Victorine and Apolline, alongside her brother Pierre Muyllaert. Jeanne, Pierre and Suzanne, thanks to their passion and commitment, have been the leading players in the evolution of this profession. Throughout the ages, the Soleil d'Or has become a reference, recognized throughout France, and the obligatory passage for all brands wishing to establish themselves on the market, in particular thanks to the exceptional duo formed by Suzanne and Pierre Muyllaert. They are the soul of the Soleil d'Or.

THE FIRST STEPS OF A PERFUMED EPIC

With the arrival of major brands by extension of mass distribution, the Soleil d'Or has taken the path of more confidential and creative brands in terms of perfumes, more cutting-edge in cosmetology, thanks to Hubert Maes, who has taken up the torch while remaining faithful to the values ​​of our beautiful brand. Hubert Maes, third generation, has been able to establish the Soleil d'Or as a reference in so-called niche perfumery.

Niche perfumery is a particular segment of the perfume industry that focuses on creating high-end and exclusive fragrances. Unlike mass-market perfumes, niche perfumes are often considered unique and creative works of olfactory art. What sets them apart is their artisanal approach and their constant search for innovation and originality. They pay particular attention to the origin and quality of raw materials, their concentrations to offer often complex and sophisticated accords. Niche perfume houses often hide small independent businesses, run by passionate perfumers, talented noses and experienced fragrance creators.

FROM PERFUMERY TO PERFUMER

During this period, Hubert developed an olfactory gift that made him a talented self-taught composer with the creation of four scents, evocative of silhouettes of women from his imagination.

FAMILY TRADITION PERPETUATED

To this day, Victorine and Apolline Maes, daughters of Hubert Maes, passionately lead the modernization of the family business in order to ensure the sustainability of this captivating place of travel in the olfactory universe. Rooted in tradition, the Soleil d'Or continues to offer a unique selection of rare fragrances, composed of noble raw materials, and combining ancestral know-how and contemporary creativity.

Located at 22 rue de la Clef, Lille , the Soleil d'Or has closed a chapter of its history, rich in memories on the Grand Place. A difficult but necessary choice to continue writing history. True to our founding values, we are resolutely turned towards the future, while preserving the soul that made our brand successful, to make previous generations proud.
