Description

"Two presences accompany our steps in the green of the tea plantations of ancient Java: the cone of the Kawah Ijen volcano and the vetiver bushes. Their long roots strengthen the path: it is for them that we have come here, for this earthy, almost ashy note, which makes this vetiver a unique olfactory experience." [travel notes]

"Vetiver": this name that sounds French is however misleading. In reality, vettiveru is the Tamil name that indicates a plant with long roots, from which textiles are also made. Distillation allows an amber essential oil to be extracted from these roots. Its origins therefore take us to the South of India but for the Perris Monte Carlo Vetiver we were looking for a particular olfactory experience. After having smelled the most used varieties, from the Antilles, Haiti and Bourbon Island, we pushed on to ancient Java. The largest and most populated island of the Sunda archipelago still retains part of its mysterious aura. Perhaps it is the proximity of large volcanoes that are still active but Java vetiver does not have the linearity of its parents. On the contrary, it is pungent, angular, smoky or even burnt, with sudden green, floral and spicy nuances. The fragrance we created is for those who take on today's challenges: a woody and intense heart opening with light floral notes.
