Bass Solo From The Vagabond Prince: His Inspiration

Bass Solo by The Vagabond Princewas created by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour. The fragrance was born from his fascination with a tropical African wood, wenge. True to his passion for this warm and authentic land, the artist imagined the scent of this wood native to Central Africa, highly prized for the manufacture of musical instruments whose deep tones require a heavy and dense wood. Wenge is also appreciated for its beautiful dark colors streaked with black. If wenge does not have a smell per se, its assets for music as well as its beauty inspired the perfumer, who attempted to translate its vibrant sounds into olfactory form.

Bass Solo by The Vagabond Prince: Its fragrance

Bass Soloplays a bass or double bass sound, an intense and dense melody with woody nuances, where sandalwood blends with the dry notes of cedar and the salty aromas of driftwood. A smoky and velvety background impregnates the veins of the wood with a caressing texture.

In the fragrance ofBass Solo, cardamom brightens the warmth of this woody score with its spicy freshness, lavender (certainly the highest note), embodies the cold metallic touch of the strings, a link between spices and woods. Very attentive to the quality of lavender he uses, Bertrand Duchauffour has chosen a lavender that sings its most beautiful facets: aromatic, herbaceous, floral, coumarinated….

The Vagabond Prince is an independent perfume house founded by Elena Knezhevich and Dmitry Knezhevich, also creators of the Fragrantica website. Their first fragrance, "Enchanted Forest", launched in 2012, is an olfactory interpretation of the enchanted forest, highlighting the note of black currant.
